We started the Balmoral Equestrian business with a vision to provide quality products and services to people who are like us. We both have horses and love nothing more than being at the yard doing the chores and schooling or riding out. We like dressage, we also go on fun rides and generally like being out in the countryside on our horses.
We like to have nice things for the horses of course, but increasingly, we have had an eye on where the products are coming from and how they are produced. We only work with local, and UK manufactures to help us provide the best products and gifts for your horse.
We have spent a long time working with our suppliers to ensure they have the same values as we do, all of our products have a sustainable and organic process in their manufacturing, as well as being made with minimal impact on the environment. We only use UK manufactures and our packaging is sourced from environmentally friendly sources.

The fitting process takes around an hour and a half and i need to see the horse ridden, you will receive a written report and a set of asymmetric drawings of the horse's profile which is a useful guide in the future to monitor changes in your horse and is often used by your vet and physiotherapist as an overview. "What is the best way to actually look after your leather horse riding equipment?" is a question I get asked a lot. The answer is not always that straightforward as it depends how often you ride, how old is your tack? The first thing to remember is you do need to have a cleaning programme with your leather tack in order to protect it, get the most out of it, make sure it is comfortable for you and your horse. Also, inspecting your tack regularly allows you to spot any problems before they get too bad....splitting leather is a problem waiting to happen. Especially on stirrup leathers and bridles.
Tack cleaning - after each ride it is a good idea to wipe down your tack and remove any sweat, dirt, grease and saliva...Use the Balmoral everyday cleaner, its a solution of water based plant and citrus based cleaner in a pump spray..a couple of squirts and a wipe down will hep prevent the build of a dirt.
Remove saddle cloth - Always a good idea to remove your saddle cloth before storing your saddle, heat will continue to transfer from your cloth, sweat is the enemy of leather as it is very corrosive as it dries.
Conditioning leather - Once a month it is a good idea to apply a conditioner to your saddle to help provide a layer of protection and help feed the leather to prolong its life, keeping the leather soft and supple and it makes cleaning the leather easier.
Full grain leather is the best leather you can get, most saddles and bridles are made with this leather and you need to look after it whether it is old or new. The leather is a skin of course and like all skins, it has a PH level that you need to be aware of. Leather has a PH of between 4.5 and 5,5 which puts it in the alkaline range.
Cleaning leather with the wrong products can affect the PH and ultimately create a problem. Any products that are chemical based tend to be in the acidic range, therefore using products like this will have a negative effect on the leather. You need to use PH neutral products where possible.
All our leather care products are PH neutral and are manufactured specifically for full grain leather used in horse riding tack.
